ABOUT
Anthony R. Artino, Jr., PhD, is a tenured Professor and Associate Dean for Educational Research at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS). Trained as an educational psychologist, he provides institutional leadership in education research, evaluation, faculty development, and scholarly communities of practice across SMHS. In this role, he works collaboratively with education and research leaders to strengthen the rigor, impact, and responsible use of educational data in teaching, assessment, and accreditation.
Before joining GW SMHS in 2020, Dr. Artino co-founded and served as Deputy Director of the Center for Health Professions Education at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences while on active duty in the U.S. Navy. He retired in 2020 as a Captain in the Medical Service Corps after more than 23 years of leadership and service.
