Anthony Artino, Jr.

Dr. Artino teaches graduate courses in the Doctor of Health Sciences (DHSc) Leadership in Clinical Practice and Education program at GW SMHS, including Teaching Strategies in the Health Professions and Survey Methods for Health Professionals. He has taught and developed graduate-level curricula across online and face-to-face formats since 2008. His teaching emphasizes evidence-informed instructional design, ethical decision making, and the application of learning theory to real-world educational challenges.

In addition to his teaching at GW SMHS, Dr. Artino has taught graduate courses at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, the University of Connecticut, the University of Cincinnati, and the University of Illinois Chicago. He also facilitates workshops for students and faculty, supervises early-career faculty, and, across nearly two decades, he has directly mentored 44 students, fellows, and faculty members, many of whom now serve in leadership roles. 

Beyond formal coursework, Dr. Artino is widely recognized for "educating the educators." Drawing on more than 30 years as an educator in the U.S. Navy and across higher education, he regularly delivers invited plenary talks, faculty development workshops, and visiting professorships nationally and internationally on topics such as survey design, peer review, research ethics, scholarly writing, and the responsible use of AI in education.
