Prof. Eric Dano graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a B.S. in Physics and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Electronic Countermeasures Officer flying in the EA-6B "Prowler." He later earned a M.S and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences from the University of Michigan. His thesis focused on modeling and experimentally characterizing the microwave radar backscatter from transient deep-water breaking waves. Upon graduation, Dr. Dano worked at BAE Systems for over 25 years, where he built on his military experience to architect, design, and field a myriad of defense systems for land, air and space-based applications. His last roles included the System Architecture Community of Practice lead, the Chief Engineer development lead and he has continued on as a part time contractor to serve as an ARB, IDR and phase review chair/committee member. Dr. Dano is past president of the New England INCOSE chapter and active in the INCOSE System Architecture, Resilience and Sustainability working groups. He is a senior member of IEEE, a member and past president of the USNA Chapter of the Physics honor society (ΣΠΣ), the industry liaison to the ASEE Mid-Atlantic section and serves on the NDIA System Architecture/MOSA working groups.
