Dr.Dale Lupu

Dr. Lupu is a national leader in hospice and palliative care who believes "The end of the story matters." For more than 40 years, she has dedicated herself to improving end-of-life care by creating innovative organizations, systems, educational programs, and research projects. Currently, she is focused on connecting palliative care with nephrology. Recent projects include the Pathways Project, which improves supportive care in kidney settings, and the HIGHWay initiative, which trained nephrology teams in communication skills for advance care planning. Her newest project, ExPAND, tests two approaches to supporting shared decision-making for people with kidney failure at 7 nephrology organizations nationally.  Dr. Lupu is a Research Professor at the GW School of Nursing and formerly held adjunct teaching positions at the GW School of Public Health and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. In 2024 she was honored by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine with a Visionaries in Hospice and Palliative Care award
