Tour Guide Training on the Bus Integrated as Extra Curriculum Activity Following my teaching philosophy, “the nation's capital, Washington, D.C., is our social lab and wider classroom”, I cooperated with our alumni and tour company to organize a bus tour and enable the students to observe live tour guide training practices. It was an incredible synergy and experiential learning activity through collaboration among The George Washington University School of Business MS in Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Management program, GWSB MSTHEM-MTA alumni, students, Tourism for Tomorrow (TFT) Student Club, and industry leaders.

Destination DC Global Marketplace Seminar: This professional activity is another annual key signature event organized by Destination DC as an official destination marketing organization of Washington, D.C., every year in January or February. While several high-level keynote speakers and panelists are invited, the mayor of Washington, D.C. usually delivers a welcome and keynote speech. It takes place in one of the luxurious hotels and a full open-buffet breakfast is served. GWSB MSTHEM students have attended this event since 2023 at no cost to the students through a discount code provided by Destination DC authorities, although the registration fee is around $100. Example of Operation through 2025 Destination DC's Global Marketplace Seminar, February 5: I communicated with Destination DC’s authorities, and reserved seats for my students registered for the TSTD 6263 Destination Marketing class and for all the students at the MSTHEM program at this annual signature event, “Destination DC's Global Marketplace Meeting” at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. The seminar featured insightful speakers, including managing directors from Destination DC global offices representing various countries. They discussed the rebounding international market and challenges affecting overseas travel to Washington, DC, such as visa wait times, non-stop flight availability, and political perceptions. The experience provided valuable insights into marketing a destination. I supervised students’ participation in the event. The students got their free breakfast and lunch. They networked with the industry leaders. I secured internship opportunities for one student. I cooperated with GWSB IITS and the Adventure Travel Trade Association to organize networking and plenary session sessions to discuss the trends in the outdoor recreation and adventure travel industry. Speakers include Chun Wright (moderator; Law Office of Chun T. Wright), Donald Leadbetter (NPS), Dianne Wallace (Monumental Travel & Events), and Karl Egloff (World Wildlife Fund).
